Gerard de Hoop is an independent designer and interior architect. Graduated at the Art Academy Minerva (Interior Design & Architectural Design) Groningen (NL).
His work consists of a constant search for innovation and resourcefulness in the field of functional products. It is his ambition to design unique products that combine the elements of simplicity, surprise and versatility. Elementary geometric forms play an important role within his designs. Operating on the limits of the technical possibilities, de Hoop creates an interesting tension in his work and this element of surprise is the special effect he is aiming for.
Gerard works regularly with other designers Like Ward Huting who designed the Kwart cabinet for Palau which resulted in a partnership named Huting & De Hoop.
