Ben van Berkel (1957, Utrecht, the Netherlands) is founder and principal architect of UNStudio Amsterdam, Shanghai and Hong Kong. He studied architecture at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the Architectural Association in London, receiving the AA Diploma with Honours in 1987. UNStudio presents itself as a network of specialists in architecture, urban development and infrastructure. Milestone projects are the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, restructuring of the station area of Arnhem, Raffles City in Hangzhou and the University of Technology and Design in Singapore. Ben van Berkel is Professor Conceptual Design at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main.
